AJFF Playback

Playback Crowns its Winner

In AJFF Playback, we invite our loyal audience to rewatch beloved films from the festival vault, then cast a vote for their favorites. Over seven weeks, films were matched up and audiences rooted for their picks. In the end it was A Bottle in the Gaza Sea that won out in this special Reunion Edition of Playback.

“We’re thrilled that this film, which played AJFF almost a decade ago, still resonates with audiences today. It’s a timeless fable, but it’s also an optimistic drama about a very real political situation—one that sadly has not improved in the intervening years. This film’s message of idealism and mutual understanding will always be relevant—but hopefully in the future, not quite so necessary.”
Maxwell Q. Wolkin, Director of Exhibition at Film Movement
