About The Film
Shouldering the burden of an entire abandoned community, two young Ethiopian men leave their humble village seeking support for immigration to the Land of Israel. An estimated 9,000 Ethiopian Jews observe religious customs, yet Israel continues to deny their birthright return to the Jewish homeland. Desperate for their appeals to be heard, Ethiopian best friends Demoz and Gezi travel to America to find advocates who will help pressure Israel into granting them citizenship. Along the way, they confront culture shock, homesickness and the frustrations of a grassroots campaign. With intimate access and detailed historical context, their own journey reveals the thorny politics surrounding Ethiopian Jewry and the Zionist ideal.
