The Atlanta Jewish Film Festival is pleased to announce the Icon Award for Contributions to the Cinematic Arts, and our inaugural honoree: writer, director, and producer Lawrence Kasdan. What exactly is the Icon Award, and what will happen when Mr. Kasdan accepts the inaugural honors on Sunday, May 22 at the Woodruff Arts Center?

What is the Icon Award

Awarded annually, the Icon Award honors exemplary artists who've upheld the tradition of artistic excellence in film, informed directly or indirectly by a Jewish subject or sensibility, and who inspire preeminence in filmmaking worldwide. While this is a new signature initiative by AJFF, for this inaugural year, we're proud to co-present the award in partnership with ArtsATL, and we could not be more excited to showcase the incredible career of Lawrence Kasdan.

For those who know his work, Mr. Kasdan's gifts of storytelling and craftmanship are held in the highest regard. From his work on the Star Wars franchise to his poignant ensemble character dramas, for the past four decades, he has been weaving magic on the silver screen. We're honored to have Mr. Kasdan join us here in Atlanta to receive his award and engage in conversation about his work and influences.
