Turkish Passport

About The Film

A testament to those Righteous Persons who demonstrated humanity during history’s darkest hour, TURKISH PASSPORT brings to light the rescue of Jews by Turkish diplomats during WWII. The film uniquely combines richly produced dramatic reenactments with testimonies of those saved by Turks and of relatives of the diplomats who saved them. Through the actions of Turkish embassies and consulates across Europe, thousands of Turkish Jews were spared, while many more foreign Jews were issued lifesaving Turkish passports and brought by train to the safety of Istanbul. Due to its neutrality during the war and strategic geographic proximity to Palestine, Turkey came to play an important role in rescue efforts. Four years in the making, with the participation of numerous nations and research institutions, TURKISH PASSPORT features never-before-seen documentation, eyewitness accounts and extensive interviews with respected historians and academics.
