Suspense. Betrayal. Romance. Reversed identities. These are the ingredients that make up MY BEST ENEMY, a handsomely mounted WWII thriller that will kick off the 2012 Atlanta Jewish Film Festival.

In this twist-filled, action-packed caper from the producers of The Counterfeiters, the brash son of a wealthy Jewish Viennese art dealer turns the tables on Nazi antagonists. As Hitler’s army invades Austria, Victor Kaufmann (Moritz Bleibtreu) is betrayed by lifelong friend Rudi Smekal (Georg Friedrich), now a Third Reich stooge. In an audacious plot, the Jewish prisoner and aspiring Nazi swap identities while vying both to recover a priceless Michelangelo drawing intended as a gift from the Führer to Mussolini, and for the beautiful, vibrant Lena (Ursula Strauss).

Co-written by Paul Hengge and director Wolfgang Murnberger, MY BEST ENEMY premiered to acclaim at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival and features Hollywood-style storytelling, absurdist humor, and highly entertaining plot twists in the style of Inglourious Basterds.

MY BEST ENEMY will be featured as the Opening Night event on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at The Fabulous Fox Theatre. A preshow reception for sponsors and Red Carpet VIP ticket buyers will feature gourmet bites from celebrity chefs and paired wines, as well as a live auction of exclusive entertainment packages.
