Jerusalem on a Plate
About The Film
Internationally renowned Israeli-born chef Yotam Ottolenghi takes an immersive culinary journey through the streets of his childhood in JERUSALEM ON A PLATE, a tantalizing portrait of the mouthwatering and diverse Middle Eastern food culture.
Starting in the Old City, where the politics of food is ever present, Israelis and tradition-bound Palestinians vie to lay claim to traditional treats like hummus and freshly fried falafel. West of Jerusalem, Yotam discovers how waves of immigrants from Poland, Hungary, Morocco and Turkey have imported distinctive flavors, ingredients and cooking techniques of the Jewish Diaspora. In both Arab and Jewish homes, he discovers the family recipes that have been passed down through generations.
From humble street food vendors to the modern culinary arts of fusion chefs, JERUSALEM ON A PLATE uncovers the essence of what makes the ever evolving Israeli food revolution not only a delicious melting pot, but an inspiring symbol of unity amongst disparate communities.
